The problem is Ticketmaster is the only system. The problem, as this new generation of fans is learning, isn’t just that Ticketmaster is a bad system. No investors were afraid that artists or venues would use a competitor’s software system. But Live Nation’s stock didn’t move at all. Investors would assume that customers would switch to a competitor’s services, much as, say, Ford’s stock drops when it has to do a recall of a line of cars. In the face of such a high-profile embarrassment, a firm without market power would suffer in the marketplace. But as a baseball fan a baseball game is a baseball game. Why was Ticketmaster’s system so poorly structured? To answer that it helps to look at the firm’s stock price. I am related to one of the Giants Coaches so I can get free tickets to baseball games (but I am not allowed to wear Dodger gear since it's in the family section). I saw my first pair of boobs at a Giants game. The only good things I can say about the Giants How is Hunter Pence actually good at baseball? It actually makes me mad that hes even half decent because he looks like he shouldn't be able to make a slow pitch softball team. Your colors look like my shit after taco bell Your stadium name has changed like a billion times. I worked in a sandwich shop and Kuip came in one day and tipped with a $20 so I won't get on his case too much. I know we are blessed with the likes of Vin and Davis, both of whom I think do a good job not only of calling a game well, but calling a game fairly. Once again, if I asked almost any of my Giants fans friends to name a new player that has joined the team since 2014. I have so many friends from back in high school that would claim to be lifelong Giants fans that couldn't name a player other than Bonds who played during the early 2000s. Maybe it's just because of the recent streak the Giants had, but I swear Giants fans are the most fair weather fans. I honestly don't think I have ever seen a Dodger commercial shit talk the Giants unless it's hyping an upcoming series. Every freaking commercial in the Bay Area about the Giants spent more time complaining about the Dodgers than praising the Giants (I actually pointed this out to a friend of mine back in high school.my favorite example.one Giants commercial actually said LA or Dodgers more times than it said SF or Giants.get your priorities straight). ![]() I hate that Giant's fans care more about rooting against the Dodgers than they do about the Giants winning. The fans who came of age with the Giants in 2010 or the casual fans who suddenly became Super Fans after certain events transpired in 2010.īut, to be fair, this is the same criticism of any team that has had a lot of lean years and then has suddenly seen success: The Seahawks, the Lakers in the late-90s, the Cubs today, etc.Īs a Dodger fan that grew up in the bay area. In a more narrow sense, the thing I hate most about the Giants fanbase are the new fans. ![]() So, as a West Coaster, there is this romanticism about those days. There was this clear divide between Northern California and Southern California and those battles played out on the baseball diamond.Īnd, of course, the rivalry extended back to the days in New York so there was a deep history that extended beyond their existence on the West Coast. My cousins and I grew up together and they were Giants fans and I was a Dodgers fan. I've always enjoyed the sense of tribalism when the Giants and Dodgers face each other. ![]() In a broad sense, I have no particular hate for the Giants fanbase other than the fact that they are, well, Giants fans.
